This episode of In The Moment highlights four speakers focused on the core values that define (or divide) us. Jini Palmer interviews Town Hall's Curator of Lectures Edward Wolcher about his experience in conversation with Charles Mann onstage; Charles Mann discusses the visions of "the Wizard and the Prophet" and their duel over humanity's technological or environmental future (3:15); Denise Fairchild explores how our democratic confluence of beliefs fuels the way we live and what we choose to change about our energy future (8:08); Maryn McKenna outlines how consumer ideals are pushing the meat production industry away from antibiotics (12:14); and Steve Scher talks with Arlie Russell Hochschild about her interviews with Trump voters and Tea Party activists in the south (19:30). Hosts Jini Palmer and Steve Scher select standout moments from the previous two weeks of events and look forward to the next.
